NFL rumors: Zach Ertz is expected to miss the 49ers-Cardinals game

Ending on a cliff Zach Ertz was carted off the field in Arizona’s win over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday with a knee injury and is expected to miss “multiple weeks,” according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

In Week 11, the 49ers and Cardinals will meet on “Monday Night Football” in Mexico City in an NFC West showdown. Cards’ Ertz is not expected to play against the 49ers in Mexico, according to NBC Sports Bayarea.

A day before, Cardinals tight end Zach Ertz was injured in the first quarter after making a 12-yard catch at Sofi Stadium.

He was able to walk off the field on his own, but he went directly to the blue medical tent. However, he was quickly carted into the locker room. Arizona deemed his return “questionable.”

After beating the Rams, Arizona improved to 4-6, placing them third in the division behind San Francisco (4-4 before Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers) and the Seattle Seahawks.

The Cardinals were already without a starting quarterback against the Rams on Sunday due to Kyler Murray’s hamstring injury. While his status for next week is unknown, the 49ers can rely on a depleted Arizona offense.

And, as 49ers fans are well aware, the battle for control of the NFC West is a year-round battle. However, the 49ers have yet to lose to a division rival this season. The Cardinals’ task of extending their winning streak next week may be easier with Ertz off the field, as the tight end leads the team in receptions, targets, and touchdowns.
