NBA star Matt Barnes retreats his defense of Boston Celtics coach Ime Udoka’s fooling on Nia Long, saying the affair is “100 times uglier than any of us thought”

“This situation in Boston is deep, it’s messy and it’s 100 times uglier than any of us thought. That’s why I erased what I said. Some things happened that I can’t condone, I can’t back” Barnes retreats his defense of Boston Celtics coach Ime Udoka’s fooling on Nia Long.

The Boston Celtics basketball team suspended head coach Ime Udoka following allegations that he had an extramarital affair with his actress wife Nia Long with a female staff member. Retired NBA forward Matt Barnes later withdrew his criticism of the suspension.

According to ESPN, The Athletic, and The Associated Press, Udoka was having an unsuitable but collaborative relationship with the woman.

On Thursday night, The Athletic reported that Udoka was accused by the woman of making ‘unwanted comments’ to her, encourages the Celtics to launch internal investigations that ultimately led to his postponement.

Matt Barnes returned to Instagram and stated his position in a lengthy, rambling video message.

“Last night I spoke on this situation without having all the facts and I think as a part of the media, often the media speaks to something and when they’re wrong, they won’t come out and say it. And since I’m a part of the media now and I try not to be like everyone else, I try to report and talk with facts and honesty…” Barnes started.

“I clearly have to say that last night, without knowing all the facts, I spoke on Ime Udoka’s defense and after finding out the facts, after I spoke, I erased what I posted”, he cleared.

“This situation in Boston is deep, it’s messy and it’s “100 times uglier than any of us thought”. That’s why I erased what I said. Some things happened that I can’t condone, I can’t back,’ Barnes surmised.

“It’s not my place to tell you what happened. If it ends up coming out, it ends up going out. That is the reason I erased what I posted last night. After I posted it I got a call from someone who had all the details and this s**t is deep”, Barnes stressed.

“Man, I’m praying from everyone involved. Hope everyone gets through this. I saw a lot of blogs picked up what I said, even though it was only on the page for like two minutes, so hopefully they pick this up too, for me being wrong and jumping out there without the facts. God bless.”

Nia Long’s public statement

Nia Long makes a public statement in the aftermath of Ime Udoka’s scandal.

They got engaged in 2015 but never married, despite the fact that they have a ten-year-old son. She also has a son from a previous marriage. Their family happiness was shattered this week when the Boston Celtics hung Udoka for violating ethics rules by having a consensual affair with an unnamed staffer.

Long is thought to have discovered the infidelity in this manner.

“The outpouring of love and support from family, friends and the community during this difficult time means so much to me”, Long said through her spokeswoman.

“I ask that my privacy be respected as I process the recent events.”

“Above all, I am a mother and will continue to focus on my children”, she said.

Long’s fans and famous friends rushed to her defense as word of the affair spread on social media this week.
