MPAA Says No To Smoking

Posted by Kimberly on May 11th, 2007

Well, sort of. The chairman of the MPAA, which decides the ratings on films, says they will take smoking in to consideration when rating a film. They’ve always considered underage smoking in the rating but now all smoking, especially the kind that “glamorizes” the act will be taken in to consideration.

So, what do you guys think. Is this a good idea for informing parents, and hopefully cutting down on how smoking is portrayed in films, or is it just unnecessary censorship? I personally, wasn’t aware that anyone was still stupid enough to think smoking looks “sexy”, but I guess I was wrong!
