The actress has a reputation for her signature jet black waves, but she has been known to experiment with wigs in the past.

For the Vanity Fair Oscars after party, Megan Fox stunned fans by cutting off her long, dark hair and dying it a gorgeous copper red. This is the season of the dramatic hair transformation.

Actress Megan Fox debuted her new auburn locks at the Vanity Fair Oscars after party, marking a drastic departure from her usual long dark hair.

Before this, the 36-year-old had experimented with auburn-colored wigs to see whether she liked the look, but now she’s finally made the drastic shift for good.

Megan, wearing a black velvet Miss Sohee gown with a plunging neckline and a diamond necklace, posed for photos to flaunt her new colour and shorter cut.

Jacob Schwartz, the same man responsible for Margot Robbie’s flawless natural-looking blonde hair, is responsible for the dramatic makeover.

Jacob explained how he took Megan‘s hair from pitch black to a lovely, even copper tone with no damage and no awkward in-between stage, which is what most people have to go through when lifting dark hair colour.

Although a professional colorist is the best choice for a dramatic hair change, Jacob used easily accessible online items.

Jacob detailed each step of the process for his Instagram followers, so whether you’re an experienced hair colorist or just looking for some guidance, you’ll know exactly what to ask for at the salon.

Jacob began by bleaching Megan’s black hair in foils with Redken flashlift, £20 here, and 20 volume developer, like this Redken one, £11 here, to get the gorgeous, rich auburn colour.

After washing out the bleach, he spent 10 minutes using 10 volume developer (about £11 at this salon) on her roots before rinsing again.

Jacob dyed her hair auburn by combining Redken’s colour gel oils in colours 6g and 7cc with 10 volume developed for the roots, and in hues 7g and 7cc with 15 volume developed for the ends.

Sally Beauty, a UK-based store, sells the colour gel oils for £20, but the exact tones used for Megan’s colour aren’t available. However, there are several extremely near alternate shades to pick from.

After 20 minutes in the dye bath, Megan’s hair has taken on a magnificent copper hue that complements her skin tone well, with a darker root and lighter ends for a more natural appearance.

The actress’ hair was thickened with extensions by celebrity extensionist Priscilla Valles, and Dimitris Hair fashioned it into loose, natural seeming waves for the Vanity Fair after party.
