And not cookie dough, although by the look of him, he probably does treat himself to a snickerdoodle shower every once in awhile. Nope, this is just regular ol’ money that he’s got, and it apparently doesn’t belong to him.

The Iron Chef is being accused of theft by former employees of his Pizzeria Mozza in LA, who claim that he bilked them out of tons of tip money, basically by laundering it. When customers would add their server’s tip to their credit cards, the money was never given to the server – instead, it was sneaked into something called a “Wine Program,” which is code for “Mario Batali’s apron pockets.” The lawsuit alleges that this also occurred at Batali’s restaurant next door, the higher-end Osteria Mozza, and that the servers were denied adequate breaks as well as prompt payment upon being let go.

This could be a case of sour grapes amongst servers who are pissed about being fired, but Batali is also facing a lawsuit in New York because of some similar happenings in his restaurant, Babbo. I know times are tough, dude, but stealing money from the wage-slaves busting their asses in your restaurants? Not cool. Besides, what are you even spending it on? Not shoes, that’s for sure, Mr. I Only Wear Crocs That Match My Beard.
