It would not have been surprising if the Arizona Cardinals did not show up for a primetime game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Christmas Eve.

After all, Kliff Kingsbury’s team had already been eliminated from the playoffs and had little to play for on the festive holiday evening.

Trace McSorley, a fourth-year pro from Penn State, was making his NFL debut.

Consider how satisfying it would have been for the 27-year-old to earn his first professional victory against a future Hall of Famer like Brady.

McSorley tried everything to lead “Big Red” to victory, but his limitations prevented him from doing so.

Kingsbury did his best with the third-string quarterback, but the lack of a downfield passing game limited the effectiveness of the scoring attack.

The Buccaneers should be thanking their lucky stars that Colt McCoy (concussion) was out, because Arizona would have easily won if the experienced backup had been in the game.

On Sunday night, two offensive weapons in particular performed admirably for the Cardinals.

It’s a shame that James Conner’s determination cannot be bottled, because the running back puts his heart and soul into every performance.

Greg Dortch, a wide receiver, continues to demonstrate to the football world that he is more than deserving of a prominent role in the National Football League.

Marco Wilson was nothing short of outstanding on defense against Tampa Bay.

The second-year cornerback will be able to tell his grandchildren that he intercepted Brady not once, but twice in the same game. J.J. Watt, the three-time Defensive Player of the Year, was dominant once again, refusing to be blocked for the second week in a row.

There were additional Cardinals players who left everything on the field against the Buccaneers.

In the second half, Marquise “Hollywood” Brown made a couple of clutch receptions.

Phaoroh Cooper, a newly acquired veteran, had a magnificent 28-yard punt-return that led to Arizona’s only touchdown in the fourth quarter.

While a large portion of the roster is still working hard for Kingsbury, a price must be paid for all of the losses. A new head coach could be the only thing missing from this group of Cardinals who are still giving it their all.
