Kim Kardashian Sues Old Navy Over Ad Campaign

Old Navy used a Kim Kardashian look-alike in one of their recent ad campaigns, but the real Kim isn’t about to let the brand get away with it.

Kardashian’s attorney filed a lawsuit against Old Navy in U.S. District Court Wednesday morning for “unauthorized use of Kardashian’s name, likeness, identity, and persona.” According to TMZ, she believes they intentionally used the doppelganger to get attention and to trick the public into thinking Kim is associated with the brand. This might be true, considering Old Navy even tweeted to tell their followers that the girl in their ads looks like Kim. Kim insists she works hard to promote products she’s actually involved with, and she doesn’t want a company she’s not involved with to benefit from her image.

Kim is seeking compensatory and punitive damages of $15 to $20 million. She’s also fighting for an injunction against the company. She waited a while after the campaign debuted to file the paperwork. Rumor has it that she is pursuing the lawsuit now because her look-alike, Melissa Molinaro, dated Kardashian’s ex, Reggie Bush.
