Kellan Lutz Thinks He’s a Fashion Designer

Twilight actor Kellan Lutz has teamed up with the founder of ‘Dylan George and Abbot + Main’ to create the label’s Autumn 2011 collection, which launched at Nordstrom in Los Angeles. What I don’t get, is how Kellan is in any way qualified to put his name on a piece of clothing: the man has little to no creativity – for example, take what he wore to the launch party: a grey top, jeans and boots – not exactly on the cusp of Milanese trends. With so many fashion designers who exude creativity struggling to make ends meat, or gain recognition for their work, it almost seems like a sick joke that someone as random as Kellan Lutz is handed his own fashion line on a platter.

Sure, there are many other celebrities who’ve launched their own fashion labels, or who have gotten involved with designing a collection for a label, but they have all been somewhat fashion related or are at least known for their own style – people such as Gwen Stefani and Victoria Beckham can get away with it – and have done so – but Kellan Lutz? C’mon – why not just publicly announce that you need someone famous to put on the label to garner attention, rather than selling out completely.

While this Los Angeles label is hardly as important as a couturier from ‘La Ville-Lumière‘, it’s still bothering that someone whose greatest work is Twilight can even muse over the thought of entering the design world  – now form a controlled line if your interested in purchasing some bland design-less t-shirts for an exorbitant price.
