Kara DioGuardi has confirmed that she has quit American Idol and won’t appear for the upcoming season of the show. It was recently reported that Kara has been fired by the makers of the show, but that was late found to be false. Kara confirmed the news by stating:

“I felt like I won the lottery when I joined American Idol two years ago, but I feel like now is the best time to leave Idol, I am very proud to have been associated with American Idol –- it has truly been an amazing experience.”

Kara joined the show back in 2008 to become the fourth judge on the panel. The judging panel is rumored to be cut back to 3 judges for the new season, which will include Aerosmith rocker Steven Tyler according to a source. Kara is parting ways with the crew of American Idol on good terms, saying thanks to the people she has worked with, and wishing them luck for the future:

“I am grateful to FOX, FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment, as well as the cast, crew and contestants, for all they have given to me, I look forward to my next challenge, and want to thank everyone who has supported me. All the best to everyone on Season 10!”
