Johnny Depp Admits Captain Jack Sparrow Has “Hit a Wall”

Everyone else involved with Pirates of The Caribbean jumped ship after the last film (Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom won’t be appearing in the upcoming film),  and now Johnny Depp has realized that he simply can’t take his character, Captain Jack Sparrow any further – well, it took you long enough Johnny! Depp commented that he feels as though Captain Jack has ‘found himself’ already, and can’t go any further:

“I mean I honestly think this whole thing about characters and character archs and ‘finding themselves’ and this and that, I honestly think old Captain Jack found himself a long time ago. I don’t think there’s any more room to-he can’t go any further, I think he’s hit a wall as it were.”

Johnny also opened up on working with Penelope Cruz, who happened to be pregnant during filming:

“She’s a serious force to be reckoned with, Penelope. She’s really a treat, she’s a heavy hitter. You can throw all kinds of stuff out there into the atmosphere and she’ll snatch up something and throw a curve ball back at you. It’s very stimulating, she’s someone I adore, one of my best friends, so yeah it’s been great having her.”

Does this mean the end of Pirates of The Caribbean? Let’s hope so – as Johnny himself put it, there is only so far you can take it before it descends in to stupidity with Captain Jack drunkenly pulling off idiotic Homer Simpson style stunts for cheap laughs, er, we might be passed that point already.
