Jennifer Hudson Says Goodbye

Posted by Chrissie on November 4th, 2008

This is one of the saddest stories of late, as Jennifer Hudson is struggling with the multiple homicide of three of her family members. As we all know, Jennifer lost her mom, her brother, and her seven year old nephew in a horrifying triple murder. Yesterday, Jennifer said good bye to her mother in a private service in Chicago held only for immediate family members.

Jennifer kissed her mom good bye and spent several minutes at the caskets of both her brother and her nephew. Near the end of the service, Jennifer’s very good American Idol friend, Fantasia Barrino sang the gospel classic ‘Your Grace and Mercy’. As Fantasia sang, she walked down the aisle towards where Jennifer was sitting, took her hand, and sang directly to her.

The private service was officiated by none other than the Reverend Jesse Jackson, reverend to the Hudson family for almost all of Jennifer’s life. Chicago Mayor Richard Daley also spoke at the service. Following the service, a procession to the cemetery was held and lead by a horse-drawn carriage.

This service was a private service held for family members only, and comes the day after the public service was held for the three members of the Hudson family – Darnell Donerson (57), Jason Hudson (29), and little Julian King (7).
We send our thoughts and prayers to Jennifer and the rest of her family during this very troubling time.
