Twelve lucky NYU students will have James Franco as a professor next year. Between acting, attending school, and writing a book of short stories, he is already the ultimate multitasker, and now he has taken on another gig as a professor at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.

Franco, 32, will teach a third-year graduate class in adapting poetry into short films. He is currently working on his MFA in film production at the school and is expected to complete it in May. In addition, he is studying for his Ph.D. in English at Yale, and already has a bachelor’s degree from UCLA and a master’s degree from Columbia. The chair of the graduate film program at Tisch says of Franco,

“He’s here to teach because he really knows something about directing that he can share with our students. He’s incredibly prolific, and that comes from a real work ethic – and that’s another thing to impart to our students.”

James was recently criticized for co-hosting the Oscars and was even accused of being high during the awards show. Maybe he was just a little out of it with everything else on his plate. Hopefully he can do a decent job of teaching a class even with all his other commitments. Students at the school shouldn’t be paying $45,000 a year to hear the ramblings of an overworked actor.
