Going Gaga For Glee!

Warner Brothers/InStyle Golden Globe Awards Party

I’m an unabashed Gleek. Like a hardcore, soundtrack-singing, line-quoting squeeing shipper of a fan. Part of what I love about the show, though, are all the surprised it throws at the audience, so I generally try to avoid spoilers, but this is tooooo good to not report on.

Kristin Dos Santos of E!‘s Watch with Kristin scored an interview with Glee creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy where he told her that there would be a duet between Lea Michele (high-strung drama queen and STAR Rachel Berry) and Idina Menzel (of Wicked and RENT fame, and the new addition to the cast as coach of the rival glee club). The song? An acoustic version of “Poker Face” during the Lady Gaga-themed episode. Mind officially blown. I love all of those things separately, so together they will probably kill me dead with joy.

But the reason is even better. Murphy said, “It’s sort of like a stripped-down mother-daughter ‘Poker Face.'”

Mother-daughter?! Too, too perfect. I had heard rumors during the first half of the season that Menzel would play Rachel’s bio-mom, but the role was then shifted to the rival coach. No reason it couldn’t be both, though, which is waaay more interesting than either one on its own. You can see from the photo that there’s a strong resemblance, and they’re both enormously talented. I’m stoked.

One question: will it be better than this?
