Is Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kevin Durant playing on Sunday? Injury Reports Suns – Bucks

On Sunday we will get a rematch of the 2021 NBA Finals, and possibly a 2023 NBA Finals preview, when the Milwaukee Bucks host the Phoenix Suns.

The latest injury update Phoenix Suns – Milwaukee Bucks

  • THE SUNS

The Phoenix Suns start a four-game road trip against the NBA’s hottest team, the Milwaukee Bucks, on Sunday afternoon. Kevin Durant has not yet played for the Suns.

The Suns are currently fourth in the Western Conference, two games behind the Kings for third place and just half a game ahead of the Clippers. Still, the Suns are the favorite to win the Western Conference, mostly because they traded for Kevin Durant before the deadline.

Durant, who has been named to the All-NBA team 10 times, was traded to the Phoenix Suns on February 9. He has not yet played a game for them. The Athletic said on Thursday that Durant is likely to play for the first time with the Suns on Wednesday, which is the second leg of the road trip.

Since Durant hasn’t played since January 12, his minutes in his first game back will probably be watched, but it looks like he’ll be able to play in the fantasy playoffs.

Josh Okogie and Torrey Craig will play less when he comes back, and Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton won’t get as many shots.

Devin Booker is still getting back into the swing of things after missing 26 of 29 games between Dec. 11 and Feb. 4 because of a groin injury. However, in the five games he has played since his return earlier this month, he has averaged 23.2 points, 6.0 assists, and 4.4 rebounds.

PLAYER UPDATED INJURY
STATUS
Landry Shamet Thu, Feb 23 Foot
Expected to be out until at least Mar 3
Kevin Durant Wed, Feb 22 Knee
Expected to be out until at least Mar 1

Shamet (foot) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game versus the Bucks and will be re-evaluated in a week, he hasn’t played since Jan. 16 due to a right foot injury. Damion Lee and Saben Lee should continue to receive extended minutes in his absence.

  • THE BUCKS

Giannis Antetokounmpo, the team’s leading scorer and rebounder, only played for 6:28 minutes on Friday because he hurt his knee. Despite this, Milwaukee won its 13th straight game and 15th in the last 16 games.

Giannis Antetokounmpo’s health is important to Milwaukee’s long-term success, but the way the Bucks played this season without their star player is a good sign.

Antetokounmpo (quadriceps) is questionable for this game. With a right quad contusion, the Bucks star has gone from questionable to doubtful.

In Antetokounmpo’s likely absence, Bobby Portis, Joe Ingles, and Jae Crowder will likely get more playing time.

Game Time Decision
Wesley Matthews Sat, Feb 25 Calf

Matthews (calf) won’t be able to play against the Suns on Sunday.

Matthews will miss his second game in a row because of a strain in his right calf. It’s not clear when he’ll be able to play again, but Tuesday in Brooklyn will be his next chance.
