Injury Updates Denver Nuggets – Houston Rockets

The last time these two teams played, the Nuggets prevailed 120-100, and this will be the third and final meetings between them in the regular season.

  • The Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets are coming off an overtime victory against the Los Angeles Clippers, 134-124. They were especially impressive on offense, where they’ll need to continue to shine if they want to pull off the road upset against the Rockets.

  • Nikola Jokic – Ready

For the Clippers’ 134-124 overtime win on Sunday, Nikola Jokic poured in 40 points (14-21 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 12-15 FT) to go along with 17 rebounds, 10 assists, and 3 steals in 42 minutes of action.

He has now recorded a triple-double in eight of his last 11 games and scored at least 40 points for the fifth time this season. In that time frame, he has posted averages of 23.7 points, 14.8 boards, and 10.6 assists in 34.4 minutes per game.

  • Jamal Murray – Questionable

Low back pain has made Jamal Murray questionable for Tuesday’s game against the Rockets.

On Sunday, Murray played a key role in the Thunder’s overtime victory over the Clippers, contributing 21 points, 12 assists, five boards, and two steals in 41 minutes.

It was Murray’s best game since returning from a six-game absence due to right knee soreness, and he should continue to improve from here.

However, he hurt his back during the game and may not be able to play on Tuesday. As a result of his absence, Reggie Jackson and Bruce Brown may see more playing time in the game against Houston.

PLAYER UPDATED INJURY
STATUS
Jamal Murray Mon, Feb 27 Back
Game Time Decision
Collin Gillespie Mon, Feb 27 Lower Leg
Expected to be out until at least Mar 10
Zeke Nnaji Mon, Feb 27 Shoulder
Expected to be out until at least Mar 6
Aaron Gordon Mon, Feb 27 Ribs
Game Time Decision

Without a definitive return date, Gillespie (lower leg) will miss Tuesday’s game against Houston.

The rookie from Villanova has yet to play this year due to a fractured right leg, and it’s unlikely that we’ll see him make an impact at the NBA level before the 2023-24 season.

Nnaji (shoulder) will miss his ninth consecutive game as he continues to rest his injured right shoulder. He has no set schedule in place.

Gordon (ribs) is questionable for tonight’s game after playing for the first time since returning from a five-game absence due to a rib contusion on Sunday.

  • The Rockets

The Houston Rockets entered the game having lost 131-114 to the Portland Trail Blazers. Defending was not their strong suit, as they gave up 71 points to Dame Lillard. If they want to end their home losing streak here, they will need to make more stops than they did in the previous game.

PLAYER UPDATED INJURY
STATUS
Kevin Porter Mon, Feb 27 Foot
Game Time Decision
Jae’Sean Tate Mon, Feb 27 Rest
Expected to be out until at least Mar 1

The status of Porter (foot) is in doubt for this contest; he has missed the last 19 games but has recently returned to practice and could start on Tuesday.

Despite any remaining restrictions, the fourth-year guard should see a significant increase in his opportunities to make plays once he is fully healthy.

Meanwhile, Tate will miss the first game of the back-to-back set due to rest, but he should be ready to play on Wednesday against the Grizzlies.
