Injury Reports Lakers – Clippers: Are LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard and Anthony Davis return to lineup?

LeBron James Injury Reports Lakers - Clippers

The Clippers and Lakers lock horns for the third time this term. The Clippers aim for their tenth straight victory over the Lakers.

Latest Injury Updates for Lakers vs. Clippers game

The Clippers have dominated the Lakers, winning all nine of their matchups by a combined score of 9-0 (nine straight wins). Although the Clippers have a stronger defensive roster, I believe the Lakers can keep this game close. In the last couple of weeks, LeBron James has been unstoppable, and the Lakers have benefited greatly from the play of Dennis Schroder and Thomas Bryant.

Los Angeles Lakers

  • Rui Hachimura (Not Injury Related)
  • Lonnie Walker IV (Knee)

LeBron James – Questionable

LeBron James Injury Reports Lakers - Clippers

Tomer Azarly of says that LeBron James is questionable for Tuesday’s game against the Clippers because his left ankle is hurting.

Like most of the season, James is listed as “questionable” because his ankle is hurting. The 38-year-old has played in six straight games, so he should be ready for Tuesday’s game against the Clippers across town.

During Sunday’s 121-112 win over Portland, King James had 37 points (14-24 FG, 2-7 3P, 7-10 FT), 11 rebounds, four assists, and two blocks in 36 minutes of play.

The 38-year-old kept up his streak of great games, and his huge stat line on Sunday helped the Lakers come back from a 25-point halftime deficit. With 37 points, James is now 233 points away from tying Kareem Abdul-all-time Jabbar’s NBA scoring record (38,387 points).

James should be even more motivated to play through his sore ankle, which made him questionable for tonight’s game, because he wants to break the record. It also doesn’t hurt that the 22-25 Lakers are still in the thick of the race for a playoff spot.

Since Anthony Davis got hurt in mid-December and had to leave the team, James has stepped up his game. In 16 games without Davis, James has averaged 33.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, 7.7 assists, 1.5 three-pointers, 0.7 blocks, and 0.6 steals.

Lakers coach Darvin Ham told the media on Sunday that Davis’s (foot) full-contact scrimmage on Saturday “looked great.”

The Lakers haven’t set a firm date for Davis’s return, but he seems to be making a lot of progress as he heals from an injury to his right foot.

Davis is still listed as “out” for now, but it seems likely that he will be back in the lineup within the next week or two. The Lakers play again today.

LA Clippers

  • Luke Kennard (Calf)
  • John Wall (Abdomen)

Kennard’s calf injury will keep him out of action for a ninth straight game. On Thursday against the Spurs, he will have another chance to return to action. Meanhwile, Wall has been diagnosed with an abdominal strain and will be reevaluated in two weeks, according to HC Tyronn Lue.

  • Will Kawhi Leonard and Paul George playing today?

George, making his return after missing Wednesday’s loss to Utah due to rest and maintenance, primarily assisted Kawhi Leonard (who scored 36 points on 13-of-18 shooting) on Friday.

Although George and Leonard will both be candidates to sit out one half of each of the Clippers’ future back-to-back sets, his minutes in competitive games should eventually settle in the 35 range.

Now that Paul George has returned from a five-game absence due to a hamstring injury, Kawhi Leonard’s fantasy value is expected to decline slightly going forward. However, fantasy managers who were worried that Leonard’s days as an elite player might be over can take comfort in his recent form.

Leonard has shot 53.8 percent from the field and 92.9 percent from the free throw line while averaging 29.8 points, 6.3 boards, 4.0 rebounds, 2.3 three-pointers, 2.0 steals, and 0.5 blocks in 36.3 minutes over his last six games.
