Gucci Mane, who was recently arrested for threatening some police officers (who is turn said that Gucci possessed a gun and some Marijuana) has taken to his twitter account to reveal that he’s battling a drug addiction. The rapper reveals that he has been ingesting ‘Purple Drank’ which is a cough medicine mixed with any drink for the last ten years and needs to check in to rehab. He also says sorry to those he might have offended, admitting that he has forgotten much of his bad behavior because of his drug use:
“Woke up the other day out this hospital bed & I’m so embarrassed & ashamed of my behaviour that was brought to my attention. I just wanna man up right now & take this time to apologise to my family, friends, the industry & most of all my fans. I’m sorry! I’ve been drinking lean for 10 plus years & I must admit it has destroyed me. I wanna be the first rapper to admit I’m addicted to lean & that s**t ain’t no joke (sic). I can barely remember all the things I’ve done & said. However there’s no excuse.”
The rapper goes on to say that once he’s dealt with his legal problems, he’s hoping to go to rehab to finally get over his addiction. He says the drug has “destroyed” him and thanks those who continue to support him through his hardships:
“I’m currently incarcerated but I will be going to rehab because I need help. I wanna thank everyone that has stood by me during this difficult time. Please keep me in your prayers.”
