Celebs attend The Kids Are Alright screening at the Sunshine Theater in NYC, NY on June 30, 2010. The film staring Julianne Moore and Annette Bening showcases the chaos ignited when the children of a middle aged lesbian couple seek out their biological father, played by Mark Ruffalo. Edward Norton has been given the boot from an upcoming Marvel movie because he is apparently not very cooperative. The action film is also set to star Scarlett Johansson and Robert Downey Jr. and would have seen Edward reprise his role as Bruce Banner aka The Hulk, a role which he has already played in the 2008 remake.  Marvel have released a statement which just about falls short of calling Edward a complete and utter uncooperative douche:

“We have made the decision to not bring Ed Norton back to portray the title role of Bruce Banner in the Avengers,” Marvel said in a statement. Norton, 40, played The Hulk in the 2008 remake. Our decision is definitely not one based on monetary factors, but instead rooted in the need for an actor who embodies the creativity and collaborative spirit of our other talented cast members. The Avengers demands players who thrive working as part of an ensemble, as evidenced by Robert, Chris H., Chris E., Sam, Scarlett, and all of our talented casts. We are looking to announce a name actor who fulfills these requirements, and is passionate about the iconic role in the coming weeks.”

Luckily for Edward, who was twice nominated for an Oscar, he has a good representative who could make a bloodsucking vampire who moonlights as an Irish catholic priest look perfectly innocent. Edward’s rep released a statement which just about falls short of calling Marvel cheap b*stards who can’t afford a piece of the real Hulk:

“This offensive statement from Kevin Feige at Marvel is a purposefully misleading, inappropriate attempt to paint our client in a negative light… This seemed to us to be a financial decision but, whatever the case, it is completely their prerogative, and we accepted their decision with no hard feelings.”
