Gossip Girl eye candy Ed Westwick has joined the cast of the Clint Eastwood-directed film J. Edgar. Other stars will include Leonardo DiCaprio and it is also rumored that Charlize Theron may be signing on to the project according to Deadline. The story is based on the life of John Edgar Hoover, the first Director of the FBI of the United States. Charlize may be taking on the role of Helen Gandy.

Ed will be playing an operative who, once it is discovered  can write, is asked by Hoover to write his biography, until Ed’s character finds out too much information in the process (does that sound a little like The Ghost Writer?). Armie Hammer, who recently starred in The Social Network will also make an appearance in the film, playing the role of Clyde Tolson, Hoover’s assistant and secret love interest.
