One Direction’s ‘Best Song Ever’ Ironically Rips Off One of the Best Songs Ever

Bland boyband ‘One Direction’ have come under fire for possibly stealing the tune for their hit ‘Best Song Ever’ from an actual good song – The Who’s Baba O’Riley, which is duh, probably something that people would eventually notice. Twitter rumors are running wild that The Who are pretty annoyed that the One Direction song sounds very similar to their classic hit which is now hitting the airwaves on repeat. Reports say they want the tune to be pulled off Youtube and are considering a lawsuit. Even One Direction Producer Julian Bunetta has admitted that the song does sound similar but he insinuates that they’ve done enough to avoid any real copyright complaints:

“At a certain point we recognised it had the same type of intro where there’s a synth and a piano, but we really tried to make sure that there was no intellectual property stolen or anything like that.”

That certain point was probably right at the beginning when they were figuring out how to change the song to make it a One Direction original. Classy.  Head to twitter and hit up the #DontTouchBestSongEver and #TheWho hashtags to see how fans are reacting or just to laugh as One Direction fans try to figure out who The Who are.
