Christina Aguilera Is Still Talking About Her Super Bowl Screwup

Christina Aguilera appeared on The Ellen Show Tuesday to talk about her new show The Voice as well as her recently finalized divorce. Another topic that came up during the star’s interview with host Ellen DeGeneres was Aguilera’s infamous mistake while singing the Star Spangled Banner at the Super Bowl earlier this year.

Christina reminisced about singing the national anthem for her hometown team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, when she was only 7 or 8 years old. She blamed this longtime love of performing and getting caught up in the excitement of the game for her slip-up.

“I think had a moment where I was at the Super Bowl at 30 years old. I took in the moment a little bit too much. Shoot me for appreciating the moment but here I am at the Super Bowl… singing for a team and in front of the world. And remembering what it was like to be that young and look where I made it now.”

The singer realized instantly that the moment would be talked about for years to come. She even joked that she would be made into “a Trivial Pursuit question.” She said that dealt with the embarrassment by laughing at herself and aiming to prove that she could still perform well.
