Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Usher, and 50 Cent are all among the stars that have performed for the Libyan dictator Muammar Qaddafi and his family. As of a result of the turmoil in Libya and Qaddafi’s brutality, these celebrities are all being asked to donate the money paid to them by the dictator to charity.

Mariah Carey performed for Qaddafi and his son at a New Year’s Eve party in 2008. Usher and Beyoncé performed at a party in 2009 and 50 Cent performed at a film festival in 2005. Nelly Furtado was also paid $1 million to perform, but has already vowed to donate the money. She tweeted,

“In 2007, I received 1million$ from the Qaddafi clan to perform a 45 min. Show for guests at a hotel in Italy. I am going to donate the $.”

Agents of other performers have made statements about the situation, claiming that the artists who performed were probably unaware of the situation in Libya. They support the donation of the money as well.
