Balloon Boy’s Parents Set to Plead Guilty

Dad’s taking the hit so Mom won’t be deported back to Japan.

Richard Heene, the fame seeker who allegedly masterminded the Balloon Boy hoax,  and his wife Miyumi are set to plead guilty to charges in connection to the Oct. 15 “event.”

The Heenes of are scheduled this morning to appear in a Colorado court where he will plead guilty to one felony count of of attempting to influence a public servant and she’ll plead guilty to a misdemeanor offense of false reporting to authorities, their attorney David Lane told Radaronline.com.

Mayumi Heene, a Japanese citizen, could have faced deportation if she had pleaded guilty to a felony so Richard Heene agreed to “fall on his sword” to prevent that scenario, Lane said. The couple and their three sons live in Fort Collins.

Let’s remember why she’s a potential deportee:

The prosecutor in the case has recommended probation for the Heenes, who appeared on ABC’s reality show “Wife Swap,”  but these two alleged schemers might be looking at some time in the clink. All for a balloon and some publicity.
