Alexander Skarsgard Speaks on Working With Rihanna on ‘Battleship’

Hunky actor Alexander Skarsgard, who stars in new film ‘Battleship’ with singer Rihanna who makes her acting debut in the movie, has spoken on working alongside the musician. According to him, Rihanna was very dedicated to her role and didn’t seem to mind the long days filming, and would even perform when she wasn’t on set:

”I was impressed by her work ethic. the days are long on a movie and we had weekends off but she’d go to perform at award shows. It was her first big acting job and she was so enthusiastic.”

Alexander also admits that he was at first unsure about taking the role, but was convinced by the director Pete Berg who he says has an interesting energy. He also wanted to make sure the film was believable and that you care about the characters, which is something he feels is the most important factor when making a good film:

”The deciding factor for me taking it was meeting the director, Pete Berg. He has a very interesting energy. It’s a very big movie but my problem with films like that is sometimes you don’t care about the characters, it’s just about the explosions, which isn’t much fun for an actor. Pete’s interested in actors and he talked about my character and his relationships, rather than how cool the aliens would look. That was important. If you don’t care if the characters live or die, it doesn’t matter how cool the rest of it looks.”
