5 Stars Who Get Red Carpet Nerves

Red carpet events can be nerve-wracking for plenty of reasons. Some stars are worried about their outfit, while others don’t feel comfortable in front of big crowds, or don’t even believe that they belong on the red carpet with all the other celebrities. These 5 stars have all revealed that they often get nervous when it comes to making a big red carpet appearance, but luckily they always get over their nervous butterflies and wow us when they do arrive at an event.

Adele

Adele admits that she hates the red carpet and doesn’t feel at home: “I hate the red carpet. I don’t feel insecure, I just feel like, ‘Oh, I don’t want to do this.’ I literally get a stomach cramp. At the VMAs last year I felt really out of my comfort zone because there were so many superstars there. But that’s been the case from day one. I never feel like, ‘Oh, yeah, I should be here.’ And I was missing my best friend’s hen night. So I was a bit bitter that I wasn’t there, to be perfectly honest.”

Sarah Jessica Parker

Sarah Jessica Parker is often worried about her fashion choices when hitting the red carpet: “This movie took a long time to make. I cared about being presentable to that degree. I never want to embarrass my children or my family. It’s always lovely to get to borrow a beautiful dress. I didn’t sleep at all last night. I’m still so nervous. Look at my cuticles!”

Selena Gomez

Selena admits that she isn’t completely comfortable with the red carpet: “I am [a normal girl next door]. I can still walk down the street, so in that respect I’m quite lucky. But some things in my life don’t come naturally, like walking the red carpet. It’s pretty scary! It’s not that I’m not confident in myself, it’s just that the red carpet is not somewhere I feel totally comfortable.”

Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett enjoys getting ready for the red carpet, but ends up nervous and sweating at the appearance: “I like the getting ready part. I like the hair and the make-up and the pretty dress. It’s just getting on the red carpet I just instantly flop sweat. It’s a weird chemical reaction I have somehow to the red carpet. I don’t know what it is. Maybe it’s just the carpet itself.”

Gemma Arterton

Gemma is nervous that people won’t like her style: “I can get a bit nervous about what people will say about my outfit when it’s a really big event, but under normal circumstances I don’t really care. In my personal life I love experimenting with fashion, but I have luckily managed to separate my everyday life from my job, so I don’t get scrutinised about what I’m wearing on a daily basis.”
