5 Celebrities Who “Quit” Acting

And we all know QUIT means…sorta stop doing it because they don’t get the parts they want anymore. So, you know, quit sorta means being a big baby about the whole thing. Still-celebrities ARE still humans, and are subject to being dramatic. Ugh.

1. Taylor Momsen

She just announced that she’s “quit” acting, even though she was kinda sorta kicked off of Gossip Girl. Instead, she’d rather whine about her parents and tour with her band (anyone heard them? Anyone? Anyone? Nothing to write home about) and wear lots of black makeup. Walgreens makeup section, watch out. Momsen’s coming for ya.

2. Joaquin Phoenix

Said so, after trying to do music, or whatever weird performance piece his life has turned into. I mean, he was in Gladiator and Walk The Line, so unlike other people on this list (Momsen, I’m looking at you) he was kinda on top.

3. Amanda Bynes

She decided to quit acting last year, via twitter. Classy! She said that she didn’t love acting anymore (Sydney White, what’s not to love?) so she stopped. Yeah, I guess. But still…I’m sure her IMDB creds weren’t queued up for anything too awesome, right? Now she like, designs things, much like Jessica Simpson, only less rich.

4. Jessica Simpson

Another gem who quit as her career fizzled…in terms of acting. Her fashion line is like, doing crazy well, considering Simpson’s IQ (note: it’s great to have people with some business saavy all around you, no?) . Anyhow, she was super in shape, in some crap movies, and then became more normalish (read: higher BMI), got engaged and made lots of money selling stylish but mid-priced shoes. It’s a real fairy tale, people!

5. Freddie Prinze Jr.

He’d been making his name doing teen flicks, but in 2003 he told TV guide that he quit acting because “it was just too weird.” Like, what? It was super normal when you got into it? I’m confused. Since then, he started writing, but has snuck back into entertainment in a couple of roles on TV.
