3 Celebs, Including Madonna, Who Turned Down A Marriage Proposal

During an interview with David Letterman in 2009, Madonna stated that she would never get married again. In fact, she said she would rather be “run over by a train” than get married for the third time. It seems like she’s rethinking this statement though after a proposal from her 24-year-old boyfriend Brahim Zaibat. Madonna is still “making up her mind” after Brahim asked her to marry him at a Kabbalah center in New York a few weeks ago. The 53-year-old singer, who will be busy with her world tour starting in May, “doesn’t want to rush into anything.” Sources close to the star insist she’s very happy with Brahim, but isn’t sure whether or not she’s ready to tie the knot again. Still, what’s keeping her from saying no once and for all is that she hates to be alone. She “loves having a man in her life who is young and makes her feel young.” Not being able to exist on your own without a man that is 29 years younger than you is probably not a good sign. Maybe Madonna shouldn’t get married again – it seems like she needs to focus on straightening out her view on love first.

Madonna hasn’t accepted her boyfriend’s marriage proposal yet, but there are plenty of other stars who also hesitate when it comes to tying the knot. Here are a few other celebrities that have turned down a marriage proposal.

Britney Spears

Britney Spears and boyfriend Jason Trawick did get engaged in December 2011, but the singer reportedly turned down the first proposal Trawick made to her earlier in the same month. Sources say she initially “panicked” and “needed time to think.”

Daniel Radcliffe

Daniel Radcliffe turned down a marriage proposal in February 2012, but it was little different than most cases. He wasn’t proposed to by a girlfriend – a random fan got down on one knee and asked Radcliffe to marry her during an appearance the TV show Extra. Daniel politely refused the offer.
