3 Celebs, Including January Jones, Who Have Weird Health Rituals

January Jones gave birth to son Xander in September 2011 and couldn’t stand to be away from him at first. She took him to the set of Mad Men with her so she could see him in between takes on set. She always felt that he needed her or needed to eat and she always wanted to be around him and be able to hug him if she was feeling separated from him. January has also been trying to take good care of herself since she gave birth, but the actress is going to some extreme lengths to stay healthy. Jones revealed that she had a great labor coach who is still helping care for the new mother. She makes sure January is “eating well, with vitamins and teas, and with placenta capsulation. You read that right – Jones has been eating the ephemeral organ that connects a baby to their mother while they’re in the womb. Apparently the placenta “gets dehydrated and made into vitamins.” January say she was hesitant about the idea at first, but she thinks it’s good for her to do because humans are the only mammals who don’t eat placenta. She suggests that all mothers do it and insists it’s “not witch-crafty or anything!”

January Jones’ strange ritual of taking vitamins made of her own placenta makes her feel like she’s staying healthy. While other stars’ health habits aren’t as extreme, plenty of other celebrities have strange rituals too. Here are some other celebs that do strange things for their health.

Demi Moore

Demi Moore once admitted that she partakes in this strange ritual – she shaves her body, soaks herself in turpentine, and then lets leeches suck her blood. Moore says the cleanse makes her feel detoxified.

Teri Hatcher

Most people like to drink wine, but Teri Hatcher likes to bathe in it. She puts leftover red wine in her bath water because it softens and exfoliates her skin.
