3 Celebs, Including Bon Jovi, Who Were Victims Of A Death Hoax

Rumors swirled Monday that Jon Bon Jovi died after suffering cardiac arrest. Bon Jovi immediately responded to the reports by tweeting a picture of himself Monday night to prove that he is alive. The photo shows him standing in front of a Christmas tree holding a sign that says, “Heaven looks a lot like New Jersey dec. 19th 2011 6:00.” He also performed at a benefit concert that night. The website from which the reports surfaced seems to have copied some sentences word for word from a 2009 L.A. Times story about the death of Michael Jackson.

Many other stars face rumors of their death circulating on the internet too. Here are a few other celebrities who’ve had to prove to their fans that they’re still alive.

Will Smith

Will Smith was once at the center of a rumor claiming he died in a car accident. Reports all over the internet claimed he was driving his Porsche in the Hollywood Hills when he lost control and flipped the car.

Tom Hanks

Tom Hanks reportedly died in 2006 after reports claimed he fell off the Kauri Cliffs in New Zealand. Hanks wasn’t even in New Zealand at the time – he was in California filming a movie.
