3 Celebrities Who Went To Nursing School

Several actors and actresses have played doctors or nurses at some point in their acting career, but some celebs today also have a legitimate history in the nursing field. Transitioning from working as a nurse to becoming a celebrity is a major change, but many stars have done just that. Whether they were attending nursing school and pursuing a degree or already working as a nurse, these celebrities made the switch from taking care of patients to starring in movies or television shows.

Kate Gosselin

Before Kate Gosselin gave birth to sextuplets in 2004 and skyrocketed to fame on her hit reality show Jon & Kate Plus 8, she worked as a labor and delivery nurse at the Reading Hospital in Pennsylvania. She became a Registered Nurse after completing a nursing program at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center in Reading, Pennsylvania.

Bonnie Hunt

Before becoming a well-known actress, Bonnie Hunt studied nursing in Chicago at Northwestern University. She worked as an emergency medicine nurse and as an oncology nurse at the Northwestern Memorial Hospital, but always used acting and improvisational comedy as a hobby and “an outlet after a long day at the hospital.”

Jenny McCarthy

After graduating high school, Jenny McCarthy enrolled in Southern Illinois University Carbondale to study nursing. In 1992, she struggled to pull together enough money to pay for her second year of school and submitted her picture to Playboy in order to become a model instead.
