If you were to buy a new phone or camera, would you pick one based on its features, or would you be most attracted to the brand that uses a celebrity to endorse its products? Tech companies are hoping a famous face will draw you in and are finding more and more stars willing to endorse their products. Check out the 10 celebrities below who embrace technology by endorsing some of their favorite gadgets.
Dr. Dre
Dr. Dre founded Beats Electronics in 2006 and has been selling the popular Beats by Dr. Dre headphones since 2008.
David Beckham
David Beckham served as the face for several Motorola products from 2007 to 2009, including the MOTORAZR2 cell phone, Aura cell phone, and a Bluetooth headset.
U2
U2 helped endorse Apple products by releasing a U2 version of the iPod in 2004. The band also teamed up with Blackberry in 2009 when the company sponsored U2’s concert tour.
Catherina Zeta-Jones
Catherine Zeta-Jones starred in ads for T-Mobile in 2006 and again in 2009 to help promote getting a “mobile makeover.”
Mary J. Blige
Mary J. Blige served as the face of AT&T in 2009. The company chose her to be a spokesperson because she has “a strong sense of self and a strong sense of style.”
Ashton Kutcher
Ashton Kutcher first teamed up with Nikon in 2009 to serve as their spokesman. He has starred in numerous camera commercials since then.
Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga was named the Creative Director for a line of specialty Polaroid products in 2010 and a wireless printer from the line was released the following year.
Lea Michele
In 2011, Lea Michele starred in a commercial for the HP TouchPad. She sang in the ad to promote the tablet’s media capabilities.
James Franco
James Franco starred in commercials for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 and for Samsung’s Galaxy camera in 2012.
Penelope Cruz
Penelope Cruz and her sister Monica starred in an advertisement for Nintendo in 2012 to promote the 3DS XL and the release of Super Mario Brothers 2.
