Lizzy Caplan, star of hit tv show ‘Masters of Sex’, has spoken on how she didn’t understand fashion in the past because it never worked well with her famous sense of humour. The actress admits fashion wasn’t something she always felt was accessible to her, but lately she is working harder to try to appreciate it and embrace it. She explained:

“I really didn’t get fashion before, but now I’m trying to appreciate it. It’s not a world that’s easily accessible through sarcasm and humour, which is generally how I get my foot in all the other doors.”

Lizzy’s stylist Ilaria Urbinati commented on how they selected her gorgeous black halterneck gown which featured a stunning white back for the Emmy Awards recently, as Lizzy was nominated for the first time and it was a very special occasion. Ilaria explains that she changed the design that was created by Donna Karan:

“We found the dress pretty early on – at the very first fitting actually. The Donna Karan Atelier team sent me sketches of gowns and this was my favourite. It was originally an all black gown so I asked them if they could make the back in white instead.”

Ilaria wanted Lizzy’s look to be classic and timeless, and Lizzy was also thrilled that the dress was very wearable and comfortable for the event:

“I loved the idea of a black and white look. Very timeless which I like for her first Emmy nomination. We didn’t want anything too overtly sexy because there’s so much nudity on the show. She loved that the dress was super comfortable.”
