Johnny Depp Says His Kids Were “Understanding” of Split

Johnny Depp says his children have coped well with his split from longtime girlfriend Vanessa Paradis. He commented that the couple sat their two children down and explained the situation to them honestly and they were “incredibly understanding” about it. Johnny says he is proud of the way his children handled the breakup:

‘When you have children, there is no room for lies, no room for anything but the truth. Anything other than that is a bad example, I believe. We were just very truthful with them and they were just incredibly understanding, incredibly accepting. I was extremely proud of them, the way they dealt with it.”

Speaking on his kids growing older and becoming teenagers, Johnny admits that the thought of them reaching those years scares him a little bit because he still remembers what it was like for him and he doesn’t want them doing the same things he did at that age, so he feels protective:

”You know you start getting hit with some very interesting situations in life, you as a parent, when they approach that teenage era, which is frightening because you still have memories of that age and the things you were doing at that age … Please don’t do what I did.”
