Actress Jennifer Lawrence has always done her best to promote a healthy attitude towards her own body and weight. She has regularly spoken out, previously commenting that she would never lose weight or diet for a role specifically and she has revealed that people have tried to pressure her to do so in the past. Now, she has spoken out on the use of the word “fat”, believing that the media use the word too freely and they’re making the younger generation believe it’s acceptable to do so too. She believes the media have a lot to do with how younger people often pick on their peers for their looks:

“I think when it comes to media, the media needs to take responsibility for the effect it has on our younger generation on these girls that are watching these television shows and picking up how to talk and how to be cool.”

Jennifer thinks that people are too open to making fun of others based on what they’re wearing or how they look. She even believes the word “fat” should be illegal because it is thrown around too casually when it is in fact very hurtful. The ‘Hunger Games’ actress said:

“So all of the sudden being funny is making fun of the girl that’s wearing an ugly dress. And the word fat! I just think it should be illegal to call somebody fat on TV. I mean, if we’re regulating cigarettes and sex and cuss words because of the effect it has on our younger generation, why aren’t we regulating things like calling people fat?”
