Christina Aguilera Speaks On Taking Her Inspiration From Being Bullied

Christina Aguilera has spoken on how being bullied at different times in her life gave her inspiration for some of her strongest songs about the topic. She reveals that her new record is also about surviving through hard times and making in past the bad parts in life. She believes writing these kind of songs is important as a way of expressing herself and her past:

‘I have definitely experienced forms of bullying, and that’s why it’s so important for me to write songs like ‘Beautiful’ and ‘Fighter’. On this current record, ‘Lotus’ is all about being an unbreakable flower that survives the test of time. Throughout the roughest of surroundings and harshest weather conditions it remains strong and thrives.”

Speaking on her son 4-year-old Max, Christina says that he means the world to her and she knows he is always feeling safe when he is around her and in the environment she has created to make him secure:

”He is my heart he is my world, he’s just my baby. I am definitely accomplishing that goal thus far. No matter what, I know he is in an environment that makes him very safe.”

Christina comments on what her life was like growing up and not feeling safe:

”Growing up I did not feel safe. Feeling powerless is the worst feeling in the world. I turned to singing as an outlet. The pain at home is where my love for music came from.”
