Scottish actress and style icon Tilda Swinton has praised fashion designer Haider Ackermann for creating clothing that is very body conscious. She believes his designs are unique because they “move properly” which she thinks is a rare property in clothing, and she believes he’s achieved such an amazing fit because he knows how the body works. The actress adds that she thinks many designers don’t consider the moving body when designing at all:

There are very few clothes that really move properly, in relation to the body, like Haider’s do – that feeling of them being designed for movement; designed for the body; for the gesture. I really love the way in which he designs for a moving human body and you’d think in fashion that’s not such a tall order, but it is. People still design for the still frame, for one photograph when the person isn’t moving at all and are posed.”

Haider recently styled Tilda is a new Mercedes Benz’s Spring/Summer 2015 short fashion film and admits the experience was very new to him because he didn’t have complete creative control. He said that he had to learn how to trust other people’s artistic visions and he found it to be a learning experience:

“It was a very good exercise because when I do my show I control the whole thing, but here I was working with very talented people and you need to put your trust in the hands of others. For me it was difficult, but that’s why I needed to do it. I liked it, it was a great exercise.”
