Beyonce Was Feeling Empowered When She Cut All of Her Hair Off!

Beyonce caused quite a stir after she debuted her new dramatically different hair: the singer cut off all of her long locks in to a short blonde pixie cut. Even her colorist, Rita Hazan, admits she was shocked with Beyonce’s new look and thinks the singer was feeling very empowered when she made the decision. Hazan commented:

“I was shocked. I think she was just feeling empowered, like a strong woman, and she said she’s been feeling it for a long time, she didn’t want to hide behind her hair in real life.”

Even though shaking her hair wildly on stage is one of Beyonce’s key moves, Hazan believes this gives women a more realistic idea of what hair should be like for day, because usually Beyonce wears loads of extensions to have a full-on effect when she’s dancing:

“I’m so happy because the extensions give women the wrong expectation of what their hair should look like — it’s great for onstage, but everyday women shouldn’t have or want to have five pounds of hair on their head, this hair is more natural, more realistic.”

Beyonce added a Monroe-inspired shade to complete her revamped image which Hazan says took a long time to perfect:

“[Dyeing] it took some time to do — like four hours — because we wanted to keep her natural color at the root so it would grow out well. We made it a champagne blonde — it’s very old Hollywood, like a Marilyn Monroe blonde.”
