These 6 stars each have completely different styles, and have spoken on what influences their unique taste in fashion. From Harajuku Barbies (that’s Nicki Minaj) to stars who believe that they are breaking the mould and are trendsetters (Kelis), these 6 fashion-forward stars each stand out from the crowd, but for completely different reasons.

Helena Bonham Carter

Helena Bonham Carter doesn’t follow any rules, and likes to do things differently when it comes to getting dressed: “I think fashion has been hijacked by the fashion industry creating rules on what one should wear and I feel like breaking the mould and seeing that the world won’t crumble, sometimes I get it right and sometimes I get it wrong.”

Solange Knowles

Beyonce’s sister Solange Knowles is known for her colourful sense of style: “I definitely gravitate toward prints and color. I love to play with prints on prints, but I try to have a good instinct about what to match. Like, if I have a Pendleton print, mixing that with a tribal African print will give off National Geographic-gone-bad vibes. So if I wear an ethnic print, I contrast it with a bright top, or maybe stripes. Yellow is my absolute favorite color to wear. I also love hot pink. When I match my prints with those colors, I feel it’s a “me” outfit.”

Rihanna

Rihanna takes her inspiration from a mixture of sources: “I don’t get inspired so much by people per se as much as I get inspired by different things. Recently I’ve been inspired by extremely girly things like flowers, and tulle, and pink… colours actually, right now is something we’re really, really into… starting with the hair.”

Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj’s style is often described as being a cross between Harajuku and Barbie. Speaking on this, she says: “I just think to myself, I really don’t give a damn, I’m going to do what the hell I want, so this is like my dream look, my Harajuku dream look.”

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian takes her inspiration from other stars such as Rihanna:  “So many people influence my style. I love Gwen Stefani and Rihanna. I love J-Lo and her brands too. There are just so many different people. I love seeing all different types of body shapes and the way they suit different people, as well as how they dress for them.”

Kelis

Kelis says she is her own inspiration and that she doesn’t follow trends: “My inspiration for my clothes and hairstyles is myself. I wake up and do what I feel. I don’t give a damn what these white chicks are wearing in the magazines. They’re not setting trends. I’ve ALWAYS been a trendsetter, and my mom is a bad chick to this day. So I don’t need to see “what’s happening”. I know what I like, and I know what I don’t like. I’m going to put it together how I like.”
