Safe sex is really important, which is why these 5 stars have raised their voices on the topic, in the hopes of spreading the word and making people aware of how they can protect themselves from diseases and unwanted pregnancies. Annie Lennox

Annie Lennox believes in the use of protection to prevent HIV/AIDS which is why she bashed the pope: “If there was ever an example of irresponsibility, it’s the Pope going to Angola, where people are dying because of unprotected sex, and telling them they should abstain. What planet is this person on? I have nothing against the Catholic Church or any religion. But it’s like a missed opportunity. It’s the highest irresponsibility for anyone to put out that message. It’s undone the good work people do in terns of safe sex practices and education.”

Jessica Alba

Jessica Alba wants people to use birth control and condoms: “Boys are awful. They are made of nothing by hormones until they are about 20 or 21. But it’s fun to have a crush, but don’t think it’s forever. And use birth control and condoms, please.”

Jamie Lynn Spears

Jamie Lynn Spears has learned from experience that birth control is important: “I believe in safety and birth control as prevention. But like many young girls… I was really scared to go to the doctor. And I was on a Nickelodeon show, and it (felt) especially embarrassing to ask someone to put me on birth control. I didn’t want to ask my doctor.”

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga wants everyone to talk about safe sex: “I want to get people started at home at a younger age with their children talking about HIV, talking about AIDS, talking about safe sex. My mother talked to me about sex at a young age, and she always taught me to be self-aware… I encourage women all over the world, and men, to speak with your friends, your parents, your sister, your brothers, your uncles, your aunts, all the loved ones in your life, about safe sex, about protection, because it is a 100 per cent disease that we can prevent, but it is zero per cent curable.”

Elton John

Elton John believes everyone should be proud of their sexuality and have safe sex:”I made the mistake of not having sex until I was 23! I loved being with another man and felt relieved that I finally knew who I was. I made the mistake of falling in love too soon because I was naive and romantic. My advice to you is to never chase love. It will find you when you least expect it. Have fun, have lots of safe sex and enjoy your sexuality. Be proud of who you are.”
