5 Celebrities Reveal Their Embarrassing Auditions!

Auditioning for a role must be a nerve-racking experience no matter how well prepared you are. These 5 celebrities have revealed that they’ve been left red-faced while trying out for a part. Some just felt the casting directors growing bored of their audition, while others made silly mistakes or even acted strangely! Remembering their embarrassing – and quite funny – auditions, here are 5 stars sharing their stories.

Chris Pratt

Chris felt he often embarrassed himself when he was overweight: “I had been embarrassed doing auditions where I was 35 or 30 pounds overweight and I wasn’t mentally or physically sharp. Like G.I. Joe, I could see their eyes glaze over halfway through the audition and that hurts your feelings… I didn’t know who I was and what I was capable of doing. I had done a lot of sidekick characters, I had put on a lot of weight over the eight years I had been with my wife. We’d been in love and eating fabulous foods and drinking wine and I was getting more work than before by playing the schlubby sidekick characters.”

Daniel Radcliffe

Daniel made a faux pas before the audition even began: “I was in an audition and I was, not exactly bitching about somebody, but I was gossiping about somebody, and someone came into the room as I was halfway through the story and I was like, I can’t pull out now, I can’t just stop telling the story that would be a coward’s way out, so I took a chance and I was continuing telling it. I got to the end and I was looking at him [the guy who walked in], and I was like, ‘The person I’m talking about is a very good friend of yours, isn’t he?’ And he said, ‘Yeah.’ And then I had to do an audition with him.”

Emilia Clarke

Emilia was so nervous when she auditioned for ‘Game of Thrones’ that she did a robot chicken dance: “There was a lot of adrenaline, I was very nervous. It was a big deal. Audition, obviously. There were lots of people from HBO there. And I was kind of anxious and did all of the scenes. I don’t know how to do it, but I did the funky chicken and I kind of morphed into the robot.”

James McAvoy

James had an awful time at an audition because he put on a strange voice: “I remember once I auditioned for a Scottish character and about halfway through the audition I just said to the director, ‘I’m just going to stop there,’ and he said, ‘Yeah that’s OK, thank you.’ My accent was so bad, I sounded like I was on something. You’ve got to hold up your hand as an actor and say sometimes there’s just some accents and characters you cannot do. I doubt I’ll ever play a Scottish person.”

Lucy Hale

Lucy auditioned for ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ and says she was very embarrassed: “It’s exactly what you thought it would be: a big monologue but very, very sexual… there were some things that I was so embarrassed to be reading out loud, but it’s one of those things where you have to commit wholeheartedly or you’re going to make a fool of yourself.”
